many years ago leorio met this little guy on a ship sailing away from a place called whale island. since then, leorio has been through thick and thin with gon, and considers him an incredibly close friend despite having intervening goals set out before them. out of the others in their little group, leorio and gon relate to each other the most in terms of ambition and encouragement. leorio is constantly inspired by gon's will to keep moving, and takes it very much to heart whenever they're in a pinch.

another friend leorio met on the boat ride that eventually changed his life. kurapika is the indisputable brainiac of the group, which means he and leorio butt heads quite frequently. despite the glaringly obvious differences between them, kurapika remains leorio's closest friend, and with that comes the constant worry and frustrations of having a best friend whose a little on the destructive side. nevertheless, leorio cares for him, and worries for him even more.

an interesting kid leorio met during the hunter exam. almost immediately leorio knew killua was gonna be a pain at his side, but never did he expect him to be not only a trained assassin, but a boy who, deep down, just needed friends to be with. leorio is always a little intimidated by killua, but most of all he admires him for his strength and wit. of course, this doesn't stop leorio from poking fun at him once and a while.

alluka is killua's little sister, and probably the one he knows the least about. she's a mysterious little girl who seems oblivious to her own enigma, and leorio prefers to keep it that way. from what he can tell, it seems she's had a difficult time with her family- except with killua, of course. so leorio is bent on making things as good for her as possible- even if it means staying up until 12am reading outdated bedtime stories.

normally, we don't talk about hisoka. ever. which is probably the only reaction you'll get from leorio if you mentioned hisoka. all he knows about the guy is that he's messed up in the head, loves fighting, and loves being weird. leorio personally prefers to stay far away from him, unless his friends are somehow involved. then he usually has no choice but to interact with the clown. despite of his own distrust of hisoka, he's not exactly sure what side he's with. maybe neither?

illumi once killed a horse in front of him. but besides that, leorio considers illumi to be someone terribly dangerous and manipulative to boot. having not yet experienced illumi's anger or wrath first-hand, leorio can only guess as to what kind of damage illumi can do- specifically, what damage he's already done to his friend killua. leorio is determined to keep killua safe from him, which- in reality- is like a mouse trying to stop an elephant. still, it never hurts to try.
